African Teen is a cultural association based in Tremblay-en-France. It offers Afro dance classes for all age groups and runs international solidarity initiatives, including educational projects in Africa. Despite being active and committed, the association faced challenges with its online presence: an outdated website, low engagement, and a brand identity that failed to reflect its values fully.
The goal was to modernize the website and rethink the brand identity to attract new members, increase engagement with existing ones, and raise awareness of their solidarity projects.
Objectives :
Enhance the association’s image with a dynamic, inclusive, and cohesive rebranding.
Attract new audiences for the dance classes (children, teens, and adults).
Showcase solidarity projects and encourage donations or partnerships.
Simplify navigation and provide a modern, intuitive user experience.
Build a cultural bridge between France and Africa by telling an inspiring story.
My Role 🧢
Initial audit: Analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of the existing website.
Rebranding: Created a new visual identity.
Workshop facilitation: Organized a collaborative session to define the website’s structure.
UX/UI design: Designed a user-centric website tailored to the association’s needs.
Collaboration with the team to ensure smooth implementation.
Workshops 🔎
1. Research and Diagnosis I organized sessions with association members to understand their expectations:
Highlight dance classes with dynamic photos and videos.
Clearly explain solidarity projects to encourage participation.
Simplify the online membership and donation process.
2. Collaborative Workshop To lay the foundation for the site, I facilitated a brainstorming workshop with key stakeholders, including the association’s leaders and members. The session was divided into three stages:
Vision Alignment: Understanding the association’s mission and future aspirations.
Page Definition: Mapping the essential pages and identifying their objectives.
Prioritization: Ranking pages based on user needs and organizational goals.
A clear structure linking dance and solidarity as the pillars of the association.
Inspiration to include a storytelling component to connect emotionally with visitors.
Benchmark đź‘€
A benchmark of similar associations emphasized the importance of a strong visual identity and seamless navigation.
Rebranding đź’…
The visual identity was redesigned to capture the association’s energy and commitment:
Logo: A vibrant design combining stylized African patterns and modern typography.
Color palette: Warm tones (orange, red, yellow) symbolizing energy and solidarity, balanced with neutral tones (white, black) for clarity.
Graphic style: Dynamic, authentic visuals featuring members and their activities.
Website
The website was structured to meet user expectations:
Homepage: Immersive dance videos and an introduction to solidarity projects.
Dance Classes Section: Interactive schedules, teacher profiles, and a registration form.
Solidarity Page: Updates on educational projects with an online donation option.
Contact Page: Interactive map, contact form, and social media links.
Conclusion
This project allowed African Teen to modernize its image and create a powerful tool for promoting its cultural and solidarity activities. The collaborative workshop was pivotal in aligning the association’s goals with user needs, laying the groundwork for a website that not only informs but inspires.
Result 🧾
New members: A noticeable increase in dance class registrations.
Greater engagement: More donations for solidarity projects thanks to better presentation and a simplified donation system.
Positive feedback: Members and visitors praised the new website for its modernity and visual impact.
